If you've become Frum, and your parents have not -- staying at their home, and preparing food, can be a challenge.
It's really helpful to keep an extra set of plates (or two) there along with some cooking utensils. (If your parents have an electric stove, you're in luck - it can be kashered easily. If not, ask your rav what to do.)
Here's the tip: Instead of buying lots of individual cooking items like pots, pans, knives, cutting boards etc..., I found it helpful to buy a "Kitchen Starter Set." The items usually aren't hight quality, but are good enough for the occaisional visit to mom and dads.
I'm writing this tip now because "Kitchen Starter Sets" seem to widely sold during the "Back to School" retail season -- so pick one up when you see it!
Otherwise, I think they sell them all-year-round at Ikea.
